It’s that time of year again. We dress to the nines, attend massive parties and kiss our loved ones at midnight, while celebrating the start of a new year. “New Year, New me”, they say. We roll out of bed, slightly hung over from the night prior, to remember our New Years Resolution starts today.
“This will be my year”, we tell ourselves. 2019 will be the year I lose x amount of weight, or finally quit that nasty habit, that should have been gone a long time ago. I’ll do better in school, or I will quit the job I’ve been wanting to quit. People come up with a million different resolutions. We’re told that the start of a new year, is a start of a new “you”. Don’t get me wrong, it is great to want to start over, and to move towards becoming a better person. Call it: You 2.0 – but we want it to be realistic.
Let’s actually take it seriously and lose that weight, or quit that habit- for good this time!
We, at Women’s Gentle Care, Inc., are all about wanting to become better people. Mentally, physically, and emotionally- it is all important. We believe and hope that the number of people, who actually see their resolution come true, will be higher than just 23%. Without building a plan on how to crush this New Years Resolution, you might as well just toss it aside. We’ve come up with a few tools that we think will help you stay on the right track this year. Instead of it being a challenge, call it your new lifestyle. You are becoming the best version of yourself and that is awesome!
The 6 Tips:
1. Write your goal down
If you are passionate and serious about this new change in your life, then it’s time to get serious. Start by writing down what it is that you want to change, or get rid of. Write down all of the ways you are going to make this resolution stick. List all of the things you will need to work toward this end goal. Get comfortable with this new change you are about to embark on. It’ll be fun!
2. Hold yourself accountable
Who’s New Years Resolution is this? YOURS. No one else’s. So don’t expect people to do it for you. You must decide that you are doing this for you and only you. Yes, you can tell people about your goal and hope they respect you for what you’re doing, but when you’re down in the dumps and wanting to give up, you have to be the one to pull yourself out of that funk and back into the right direction.
3. Manifest your desires
Visualize what it would be like to have this New Years Resolution come true. Visualize this and believe in it. Think about it often. Think about how it all makes you feel. Think about how it will feel when you do get to the end result. You have to believe in yourself and your ability to do whatever it takes. Backing out isn’t an option.
4. Positive Thinking
Being able to think about your journey ahead in a positive light, is a huge part of this process. If you have a positive view on everything that you are doing, you will enjoy it more. Giving yourself positive words of encouragement can go a long way.
This is key. Practicing patience in a time like this is what will make or break you. The moment you start to doubt yourself, or question why the end result is taking so long, you must be patient. The journey to greatness is never easy, and you must understand this.
6. Stay Motivated
Do whatever it takes. Find what works for you, and use that. Whether its reading quotes, following motivational speakers, watching videos…. get up and get going. Finding what keeps you motivated will only help you in the long run.
Whatever your New Years Resolution may be, know that we are here for it! Staying on track of a resolution can be difficult, only if you let it. If you slip up, don’t beat yourself up about it. Pick yourself back up and keep moving forward and remember: “When you feel like quitting, think about why you started.”
